Rockport State Rec Area
an installment of what happens to my photos when i die?
September 2018
Rockport was pretty new when I visited, having just been sold to the DNR by the former quarry. It was such a unique experience hiking the gravel "dunes," walking down the abandoned ore dock, and the quarry roads.
Rockport is an official dark sky preserve, so of course I set up the tripod! Looking back, I've definitely learned a lot and I'd love to go back.
To this day I'm REALLY proud of this picture, and it might be one of my all time favorites. It looks like a peaceful morning but this was actually taken around 11pm on an extremely choppy night! It's a 30 second exposure of the remains of the former ore dock.
