Savannah
an installment of what happens to my photos when i die?
December 2025
The city of Savannah was really nice, but I definitely would not come here in the summer! I absolutely love the spanish moss than hangs off all the oak trees. They have a great bus system and riverwalk.
I visited three states for the first time on this trip - Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina!
There's an amazing riverwalk area with a view of the bridge! As a civil engineer I'm obligated to stop and photograph every cool bridge I can.
This tugboat farted out a heart for me 🖤
This is the Tybee Island Pier which is a beach town just outside Savannah.
Fort Pulaski is where I officially got my money's worth out of my America The Beautiful pass! It was my fifth national park (this one's a monument) since I purchased it last March. The others were White Sands, Carlsbad Caverns, Guadalupe Mountains, and Congaree.
My husband always jokes that his ultimate compliment is that something was "much better than he expected" and Fort Pulaski received this honor.
For some reason I decided to get real dramatic with the lines in my framing and also my edits
The mortar used to make the shelter walls is made from a ton of crushed up seashells.
One of the captains (?) brought his orange cat to live at the fort and they have this statue in his memory.
A trail from Fort Pulaski leads to a viewpoint of Cockspur Island Lighthouse, which was a little underwhelming considering what we have here in Michigan but I'll never turn down a trail or a lighthouse! There were spots to stop along the river and watch freighters too.
The closest viewpoint was still quite far, and I like to travel light with just my 50mm prime lens, so I took this photo using my phone through a pair of binoculars. I was kind of shocked it actually worked.
There was a stop along the trail to watch freighters going in and out of the port.
Aforementioned very far viewpoint of the lighthouse
There was a huge variety of plant life here.
Saw my first wild alligator!
This cemetery was allegedly haunted. It's probably scarier at night but they charge you money for that.
I tried editing these to look extra spooky. Maximum vignette!
I got to see like 40 cats while I was in Savannah, at both Pounce Cat Cafe and the Neighborhood Cat Garden!
