Sterling State Park
an installment of what happens to my photos when i die?
September 2025
Sterling State Park's beach is long and dotted with huge trees. I'm not used to seeing such tall trees right on the water. There's a breakwall pathway where you can walk even farther down the shore on the outside of some Army Corps property. It's kind of a strange atmosphere that reminded me of Indiana Dunes National Park--both sides of the park are flanked by billowing smokestacks and all the topography clearly manmade.
I was about to head out after getting my drone shots but I ran back to the beach when the sky turned this pink and purple gradient. My car tire was leaking and I wanted to get home before dark. Didn't happen but it was worth it for this picture in my portfolio that nobody visits.
This pedestrian bridge spans a lagoon, connecting the beach area to the marshes. There are miles of paved trails from the beach and all around the marshes.
